Test your skill in our upcoming Chess Tournament on Saturday, May 16th for ages 15 years old & older. This is at Tazewell Library on Main Street in Tazewell, VA. Registration will begin at 9am on the day of the event. Play will begin at 9:30am. Registration is on a first come first serve basis and will close once max number of players is filled. This is a free tournament.

Chess Rules for Chess Tournament
1. Registration is from 9 – 9:30am
2. Swiss Tournament. There will likely be between 5 – 7 rounds. White and black will be assigned by chess software.
3. Rapid time controls, consisting of 15 minutes per player plus 10 second bonus increment.
4. Touch-move rule, meaning that if the touched piece is their own, it must be moved; if it is the opponent’s, it must be captured.
5. The winner of each match will receive 1 point. A draw will receive 1/2 point. The loser will receive 0 point.
