Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
We’re thrilled to announce that Tazewell County Public Library Foundation is now an official local program partner of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. This is an award-winning program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family's income.
Thanks to this exciting partnership, we can now help foster a love of reading in even more homes throughout Tazewell County.
Founded by the legendary country singer and philanthropist Dolly Parton in 1995, the Imagination Library has mailed over 200 million books to children across the world. The program’s goal is simple but powerful: to inspire children to dream more, learn more, care more, and be more — starting with a book.
Each child enrolled receives a carefully selected, age-appropriate book every month, addressed to them, delivered straight to their mailbox — at no cost to the family.
Children from birth to their 5th birthday who reside in Tazewell County, VA are eligible to receive books through the program.

Early exposure to books builds foundational skills that last a lifetime. Studies show that children who grow up with books in the home are more likely to develop stronger reading skills and succeed in life.
By offering free access to books, we’re opening doors to imagination, learning, and future opportunities one page at a time.
