Written by William Luce, The Belle of Amherst is a one woman play about the life of Emily Dickinson. Originally appearing on Broadway in 1976, the play is an intimate glimpse into the poet’s unusual life-seclusion, tight nit friends & the men who loved her. Actress and writer Sybil Rosen will portray Emily Dickinson. The is a free event open to the public.
Partners include the Friends of the Tazewell County Public Library and the Festival of the Arts.

About Sybil Rosen
As an actress, Rosen started performing The Belle of Amherst in 2018. She has recently appeared in two independent films: Blaze and Days of Daisy. Blaze is based off Rosen’s memoir Living in the Woods in a Tree: Remembering Blaze Foley. As a writer, Rosen is an award-winning playwright, novelist for children, and short story writer. Rosen also wrote for the soap opera Guiding Light in 1990, the year the show won an Emmy for Best Writing in a Daytime Serial. A young adult novel Speed of Light, won the 1999 Sydney Taylor Award for Older Readers and was nominated for the 2000 Mark Twain Award
